Ian has previously served as chorus master for Northwestern University Opera Theater’s production of Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and has prepared choirs at the University of Chicago for works including Fauré’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. An accomplished singer, he has appeared as a soloist with Music of the Baroque, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel Chorus and Orchestra, Music Institute of Chicago Chorale, and has recently sung with ensembles such as Apollo’s Fire, Chicago Symphony Chorus, New York Philharmonic, Grant Park Music Festival, San Diego Symphony Chorus, Chicago Opera Theater, Stare at the Sun, and Roots in the Sky. This summer, he will join the Carmel Bach Festival as a 2026 Virginia Best Adams fellow.
Ian holds a Master of Music in choral conducting from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Andrew Megill
